Agri Con GmbH - Precision Farming Company

Marc Büchner, Zwenkau:

"Our employees now pay much more attention to the care of the fields and the crops. Tackling this issue provides us with the basis to be able to supply the crops optimally with nutrients at the best cost. We experience the effects of sub-area fertilisation at close hand: better harvesting, improved N balance, and -in good oil-seed rape years for instance-  savings of nutrients, without having to accept loss of yield.”

Manfred Hurtz, Nideggen:

"My crop stands have become much more homogeneous since I’ve started using the YARA N-Sensor. In the first year using the sensor fertilisation I harvested 4 % more wheat, in the second year the harvest increased by 6 %. In contrast, the application of nitrogen fell by about 40 kg.”

Thomas Volk, pro Plant GmbH:

"The result of our growth regulator trial was clear: in all 29 large parcel trials, which we’ve carried out since 2007, together with the market based use of the growth regulator module of the N-Sensor, there was no lodging. We achieved increased yields with the YARA N-Sensor, whilst also saving money. Not taking into account the grain price, the profit in 2008 and 2010 was more than in 2009. In the last season it came to 33 €/ha."

Klaus Münchhoff, Derenburg:

"In 2010 we directly compared two neighbouring winter rye areas. We treated one area uniformly with growth regulator and the other variably. The positive effects of the sub-area specific application were clear: despite the adverse conditions in this year, there was no lodging in the variably treated area, in contrast to the uniformly treated area.”

Thomas Höfke, Dingelstedt:

"We used the growth regulator module in some parts of the winter barley in 2010. The positive effects completely convinced us, so we’ve bought a second N-Sensor for the variable-rate application of growth regulators.”

Eric Krull, Niederndodeleben:

"Through the long-term use of the YARA N-Sensor in the nitrogen fertilisation the variations in working using control graphs have diminished. This is a sign for more homogeneous stands, which leads to improved harvesting and less lodging. Since we produce a lot of quality wheat, guaranteed protein content is essential. It became clear, mainly in 2009, how important a sensor supported quality application is for the protein content. Farmers, who abstained from the last application for economic reasons, were annoyed with themselves about the low protein content.”

Henry Schoppe, Sonnewalde:

"We were able to avoid lodging in 2008 and 2009 due to the use of the sensor. Where we didn’t use the sensor for application, we tended to get lodging.”

Norbert Henschel, Etzdorf-Heideland:

"The fertiliser requirement of our crop hasn’t decreased significantly but the distribution of the fertiliser has changed. The yields and quality are at a high level and also the development of the N balance is positive. Before the introduction of the precision farming equipment it was a challenge, since we apply slurry throughout the year, depending on the previous crop. Now we don’t stand out in the nutrient balance calculation anymore through the combination of this with a sensor supported mineral N fertilisation. The tendency towards lodging is decreasing to zero.”

Doreen Riske, Groß Kiesow:

"We grow about 500 hectares of rape on our farm. We have already successfully tested the French model and the sensor fertilisation for the last 2 years. Then we changed over completely to the variable rape fertilisation with the YARA N-Sensor – with success. We were able to harvest a good 40 dt/ha with good oil content and an average of 175 kg N/ha. In contrast to the 5 year average we also managed with 30 kg/ha less nitrogen! What was also surprising was that the yield increased with a decreasing amount of N. With the N-Sensor we also have the confidence always to apply the right amount of N and to supply the crop optimally.”

Friedrich Bennemann, Boren:

"My employees and I have never fertilised nitrogen so efficiently. The YARA N-Sensor gives us the required security, whether it is in cereals or rape. I wouldn’t want to do without the variable nitrogen fertilisation with the YARA N-Sensor anymore!”

Sven Borchert, Groß Germersleben:

"We’ve been using the YARA N-Sensor and the YARA N-Tester for five years. It is important to keep one’s nerves and only to fertilise when there is a real need. We have been able to save up to 50 kg N/ha on some fields by doing this! We are very enthusiastic about the YARA N-Sensor just for this reason alone!”

Matthias Joest, RWZ Straußfurt:

"My employees recognise sensor wheat even on inspection. The raw protein content normally varies between 12 and 41 percent in the delivered grain. In contrast, in sensor wheat there is almost no variation."

Konstanze Fritzsch, Dresdner Mühlen:

"The mills generally want to have homogeneous cereal parts."

Albert Rudolphi, Kirch Mulsow:

"We bought a YARA N-Sensor ALS in the spring of 2009; already in the first year we were able to save over 24,000 € on nitrogen on our 1200 hectares of land. Just through this the N-Sensor is quickly profitable.”

Uwe Rehfeld, Lüchfeld:

"We evaluate our diesel data every year. After we introduced the N-Sensor in 2009, we could determine a clear saving in harvesting: lower use, higher combine performance, faster harvest. The combine drivers also admired the even stand.”

Marko Gemballa, Zinzow:

"We’ve used the YARA N-Sensor in cereals, maize and rape for the last 8 years- with success. For example, in 2008 on fields with a soil value of 30 we harvested 46 dt/ha of rape with only 130 kg N/ha.”

Roland Arndt, Spoitgendorf:

"We should have started with the sensor fertilisation much earlier. The fertiliser is much better distributed, the stands are more homogeneous. This becomes really clear when harvesting.”

Bernd Brüne, Melsungen:

"I’ve used the N-Sensor for one season, also with the application of growth regulators. In comparison to my work up to now, I sprayed about 50% less haulm stabiliser on sub-areas. And the whole crop stood.”

Dr. Hartwig Kübler, Raitzen:

"Already in the first year of use, we fertilised over 7000 hectares of cereals and rape with our YARA N-Sensor ALS. The advantage of the system for me is the precise determination of N-requirement and the variable N-distribution with tester and N-Sensor. All the plants are optimally supplied and I was even able to save nitrogen on my land.”
